Bollinger’s SpeciaI Cuvée

$490.00

A rich, smoky Champagne, with hints of marzipan and fennel seed accenting honeyed malt, bread dough, baked apple and gingersnap flavors. It’s all focused by intense acidity, which meshes beautifully into the layers of flavor and refined texture, with a lingering finish.’ – Wine Spectator 94/100

‘Dominated, as always, by Pinot Noir and with wood fermentation and aging, this Champagne has a great poise between freshness and richness. It is intense and ripe, with apple and minerality coming together. The bottling is ready to drink.’ – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, 92/100

‘Disgorged in the second half of 2019, the latest release of Bollinger’s NV Brut Special Cuvée is based on the 2015 vintage, complemented by around 60% reserve wines. The wine is still quite tightly wound after its recent disgorgement, opening in the glass with notes of crisp yellow orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, clear honey and orange peel, with little sign of the nuttiness to come with bottle age. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, muscular and incipiently textural, with a deep core, ripe acids and a pinpoint mousse. This isn’t the most incisive vintage of Special Cuvée, but it’s powerful and vinous and will have fine gastronomic potential with a little bottle age. Drink 2022 – 2035.’ – William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 91+/100

Cellar aged for more than twice the time required by the appellation.

Dosage: moderate, 8 to 9 grams perlite beautiful I aromatic complexity; ripe fruit and spicy aromas; hints of roasted apples, apple compote and peaches.
